In celebration of Carroll Shelby International’s 50th anniversary, Shelby American has announced they will release a limited-edition 50th anniversary Shelby FIA Cobra that is a very similar model to the small block Cobra FIA that competed in the World Manufacturer’s Championship series back in 1964.
The original Cobra FIA competed against Aston Martins, Jaguars, Corvettes, and the like, and was driven by highly esteemed drivers such as Bondurant, Miles, Burney and Hill.
There will only be 50 available cars in this limited edition continuation of the Cobra FIA. This model will be a CSX7000 Shelby 289 FIA Cobra, to be exact, and they will each be painted Viking Blue with Arctic White FIA stripes and roundels. They will each have a black interior with original powder coating and billet anniversary badges to celebrate the release.
Although this car is a throwback to the original model from ’64, the new make will be outfitted with every contemporary convenience, including modern disc brakes, a stronger body and frame, the Ford V8 small block exhaust, a pin-drive hub, oil cooler scoops and the racing spec 289 small block engine.
This model was introduced at Barrett-Jackson just two weeks ago, and will be available for purchasing later this year. Base prices on this model will range from $94,995 to $159,995, depending on the body type chosen; prices will alter depending on additional options.
