At Classic Auto Insurance, we know that in the dead of winter you are eagerly anticipating the first hint of spring when you can take your classic car out for that first car club event and show it off. Perhaps you are even planning a trip to a car show. Before you send in your show registration packets, however, there are a few things you need to keep in mind when taking your vintage vehicle out for the first drive to an event, particularly if it is farther than you typically travel.

Check your collector car insurance policy.
Do you have roadside assistance in case you break down? Will you be going over on the mileage allowed on your policy? Are there restrictions on states or countries in which you can drive?

Check your car.
Are all mechanical parts of the car in good working order? Do you have a basic tool/repair kit for minor problems?

Check your route.
Is the terrain appropriate for your vehicle? Are the speed limits suitable? Should you have your car transported instead?

Check your destination.
Is the area you are visiting secure? Do you need a car cover to protect your vehicle when parked? Is covered storage available if needed?

These are just a few reminders when going to car shows and events with your collector vehicle. Do you have any other tips for preparing your classic car for a trip to the show this spring? Make sure to share them in the comment section below!
