A Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible just made record numbers for Chrysler last weekend when it was sold for $3.5 million at auction. This rare muscle car is only one of two produced for the U.S. and only one of 11 convertibles with the 425/425 hp engine built from that year.
This Hemi Cuda not only has the 426/425 hp V8 under its hood, but it also has a 4-speed manual transmission, and is the only car remaining of its kind. This Hemi Cuda has been fully restored with a Bright Blue finish, and has a numbers-matching motor under the hood, as well as largely original bodywork. It includes the performance option Dana 60 4.10 rear end, the Super Track Pack, a 26-inch radiator and the Barracuda’s Shaker hood.
This car beats any other Plymouth previously sold by at least a half million dollars, but since this car is truly one-of-a-kind, we’re not surprised it drew in such a high price. What do you think Plymouth would be like if Chrysler had kept the brand around? Do you own any older Plymouth models? We’d love to see pictures of your restorations and classic Chryslers!
