The Pinehurst Concours d’ Elegance’s inaugural day is scheduled for the 5th of May 2013 and will feature around 150 of the most historic classic automobiles and motorcycles from across the globe.
The four days of events preceding the main show are an added attraction for the vintage automobile enthusiast.
Kick starting the events on Thursday, May 2nd is an aerodrome party that will be held at the nearby Moore County Regional Airport. The following day will see many of the Concours participating vehicles partake in a road rally leading from Pinehurst to the nearby Fort Bragg military base. Vintage car enthusiasts will especially look forward to Saturday’s collector car auction, followed by a Gala event in the evening.
True to style, the world class Pinehurst resort will ensure a special experience for each attendee. The attendees will not just get a first hand view of the greatest vehicles ever created, but also an opportunity to meet the leading lights of the industry. The event will honor Lee Holman, the son of legendary John Holman and the owner of Holman Moody (the fabled Ford racing factory) with its Inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award. The event will also commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first pro-level racing win achieved by the Ford Mustang.
A significant number of the vehicles being featured in the event are military vehicles, and to complete the experience, the attendees will have the privilege of interacting with and learning about the vehicles from the soldiers at nearby Fort Bragg.
The event, two years in the making, is the brainchild of Dean Kessel, a motorsports marketing veteran of 20 years standing, and an avid auto enthusiast as well. Pinehurst already takes credit for hosting some of the most prestigious events in the world, including the U.S. Open Championship, the PGA Championship, and the Ryder Cup, to name a few. The Concours d’Elegance will be a fitting addition to the line of world famous events for Pinehurst in the years to come.
