The Mustang Club of America (MCA) is the most substantial Mustang club in the world and features numerous clubs across North America and other continents. The club began in the 1970s and now has over 40,000 members worldwide.
The MCA prides itself in providing Mustang enthusiasts with exceptional group events and camaraderie among members. With a rich history, frequent events, and several membership levels offering different benefits, the Mustang Club of America is perfect for Mustang lovers.
The History of the Mustang Club of America
The Mustang Club of America was founded in 1976 in Stone Mountain Park, Georgia. The founding members were keen on forming a club for Mustang enthusiasts, and the four founding members were Stan Jones, George White, Gary Goddard, and Tom Taylor. The original focus of the club was celebrating Mustangs from the years 1965 to 1973.
The first MCA meetup was held in March of 1976 and featured ten attendees, and in April, the first official meeting was held. By the end of August, the club already had over 250 members.
In 1986, the MCA’s Board of Directors decided to expand the club’s outreach from the 1965 to 1973 models of Mustangs to include all Mustangs. This motion was largely opposed by members, but the board felt it would help the club expand. Today, the MCA focuses on Mustangs, Shelbys, Saleens, Steedas, Roushes, and modified Mustangs regardless of year.
The MCA also works with other clubs to coordinate events, such as the Shelby American Automobile Club and the Antique Automobile Club of America.
