2016 Carmel Artomobilia August 26-27
Artomobilia’s Jon Pitz talks with Hal, an owner with a lifelong appreciation for muscle cars. He is bringing some Mopar muscle to the 2016 Carmel Artomobilia August 26-27 in the Arts & Design District of downtown Carmel, Indiana.
Mopar Cars – Beating Everything on the Streets
Hal’s passion for Mopar cars starts at an early age while watching his father and older brothers work on and race their muscle cars. “Dad soon learned that Mopar Hemis were beating everything on the street, so he started buying them when I was about eight or nine,” Hal says.
All-Star Mopar Line-Up
For Hal there is no doubt, Mopar rules. Which may explain why he owns five stellar examples of muscle cars: a 1970 Hemi Cuda Convertible, a 1970 Challenger Convertible with a 472 Hemi engine, a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird in Limelight Green (!), a 1969 Dodge Charger RT and a 1971 Dodge Charger RT 440 Automatic (Hal is taking all challengers!).
Mopar Mom Clocked at 100 Mph
Even Hal’s mother is bitten by the Mopar bug. After his father buys a 1968 Dodge Coronet, his Mom takes it for a drive, only to be pulled over by the police. She is stunned to learn she has been speeding along at 100 mph! Fortunately, the policeman is a Mopar fan, too, and she escapes with a warning.
Keeping the Mopar Family Tradition Alive
Hal is keeping his passion for Mopars alive and well. He isn’t drawn to collecting them just for their speed and power. His beloved hobby also honors a family tradition. Collecting is about preserving our history and cherishing the memories that flood back every time we look at our cars.
Art Lovers and Car Enthusiasts Celebrate
Artomobilia is a two-day celebration of automotive art and design and the unending passion we have for our classic and collector cars. The weekend festivities kick off Friday night with Fuelicious: A Celebration of Wheels + Wishes, an exclusive event on the grounds of the Lucas Estate featuring 50 distinct collector cars, all in support of the Indiana Children’s Wish Fund. Saturday, the streets of Carmel’s Arts and Design District come alive with music, food, shopping and some spectacular cars on display. We hope to see you there!
