Maserati is celebrating 100 years on the market, and to commemorate their time in the luxury car industry, they unveiled a new concept at the Geneva Auto Show.
The last few Maseratis have been sedans, but this concept reminds us of older Maserati models that offered the class of a luxury car and the power and speed of a sports car. The Alfieri may not make it into production, but it is at least a hint towards what Maserati has cooking for their next release.
This concept did, however, come fully equipped. Most manufacturers don’t even bother to put engines in their concept cars, but Maserati went all-out with this concept, stocking it with a 4.7 Liter V8 with 460 horsepower. It was also fitted with custom wheels, 20’s in the front and 21’s in the back. The Alfieri also had a few design elements that were more than intriguing.
The most interesting piece of design work on the concept was the instrument panel. While the car is fitted with an LCD touch screen in the middle of the panel, the dashboard uses analog gauges. These aren’t normal gauges, though. Instead of a moving needle, the number rings spin to meet a fixed needle, making this dash significantly more visually interesting than any we’ve seen before.
