The site features a range of vehicles from the present and spanning back to the 20th century. In this article, we thought we’d feature some gems that were recently sold at auction, including a 1973 Dodge Challenger, a 1971 Triumph Spitfire, a 1968 Mercedes-Benz Cabriolet, a 1969 Jaguar, and a 1971 Porsche 911T.
440-Powered 1973 Dodge Challenger
If you’re a fan of classic muscle cars from the past, this model should have you drooling. The Dodge Challenger is one of the most iconic muscle cars, and this 1973 model is stunning. Acquired by the seller in 2020, this vehicle recently sold for $25,250 at auction.
The body is finished in a classic 70s yellow and is said to have been repainted under previous ownership. Exterior features worth noting include a dual scooped hood, a black-finished grille, fender, vents, and bumpers, a dual-outlet exhaust system, and a classic black hood stripe.
The wheels are 15” silver-finished Rallye with chrome trim rings, and the car is equipped with power steering. The brakes are handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. Work has consisted of replacing the leaf spring hangers, shock absorbers, rear wheel cylinders, and rear axle bearings.
The interior cabin of this little piece of history features black vinyl-upholstered bucket seats and a rear bench with a color-coordinated dash, door panels, headliner, and carpets. Additional interior features include a pistol-grip shifter, woodgrain accents, a center console, and a left remote mirror controller.
Power in this model comes from a 440ci V8, which features a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, a Speedmaster electronic ignition, finned Mickey Thompson valve covers, and a Weiand intake manifold. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a 3-speed automatic transmission.
1971 Triumph Spitfire
This little beauty—a 1971 Triumph Spitfire—sold for an easy $9,200 at auction and was refurbished by the seller after purchase in 2018. It is painted in a stunning red after being stripped to bare metal during refurbishment.
The seller also painted the front of the frame black and conducted rust repairs. Additional exterior features include a black convertible top, chrome bumpers and dual side mirrors, and a chrome luggage rack. The wheels are 13” Minilite-style with Triumph center caps wrapped in Toyo Eclipse tires.
The interior was installed with aftermarket fixed-back bucket seats in black, and the steering wheel is trimmed in wood. Other interior details include a Sony CD player, multicolor floor mats, and a new speedometer and tachometer, which were replaced during refurbishment.
The engine is a 1.3-liter inline-four and was rebuilt in 2019. The cylinder was also rebuilt, and the engine was bored over .020”. The dual carburetors on this model were sourced from an earlier model Spitfire and were also rebuilt before installation.
Other features worth noting include a PerTronix ignition system, a 45-watt alternator, an electric distributor, and aftermarket spark plugs. The fuel tank and fuel pump were also replaced, and the four-speed manual transmission was painted during the build.
1968 Mercedes-Benz 280SE Cabriolet
This 1968 Mercedes-Benz 280SE Cabriolet was a family car originally ordered by the seller’s father through Rallye Motors of Glen Cove in New York. The seller acquired it after his father passed five years ago, and it recently sold at auction for $171,888.
The car left the factory finished in Tobacco Brown and was repainted the same color by J & B Bodyworks in 2019. This sophisticated, classic model also features a soft brown top, a power-retractable antenna, quad lights, a chrome-finished grille, bumpers, side mirrors, and rocker-panel trim.
The 14” steel wheels are painted and polished to match the body color and are mounted with Michelin narrow-whitewall tires. The stopping power for this vehicle comes from the power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes.
The cabin of this 1968 Mercedes-Benz features beautiful Cognac leather upholstery with color-matching door panels and lighter beige carpeting. The dashboard, A-pillars, and center console are trimmed with a complimentary colored wood grain.
Additional interior features include a VDO/Kienzle clock, power windows, a Kühlmeister air conditioning system, and a Becker Mexico TR AM/FM radio. A Bluetooth stereo system has also been added in the vehicle’s trunk.
The 2.8-liter M130 inline-six engine has a Bosch mechanical fuel injection system, and the drive belts, water pump, and coolant hose were all recently replaced. Power in this model is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission.
1969 Jaguar XKE Series II Coupe 4-Speed
This beautiful retro 1969 Jaguar model is truly something special. It remained registered to the first owner until it was passed to a relative in 2022. It was then sold at auction recently for $58,000.
The body is finished in a classic light blue and features a louvered clamshell hood, dual exhaust outlets, a left-side mirror, and pop-out rear quarter windows. It also has chrome bumpers with guards and chrome 15” knock-off wire wheels.
The interior cabin of this beautiful model comes with bucket seats trimmed in dark blue leather with perforated inserts, and the door panels and carpets are color-coordinated to match. The steering wheel and gear shift knob are trimmed in wood.
Additional interior features include a push-button AM/FM radio, a lockable glove compartment, a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a clock and gauges located in the center cluster.
Stopping power comes from four-wheel disc brakes with this 1969 Jaguar and the 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with twin Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. An Optima battery has also been installed, and it has a 4-speed automatic transmission.
A collection of awards accompany this stunning vehicle, including an award from British Leyland Motors INC. in 1975 for Best Jaguar in Class.
1971 Porsche 911T Targa
Our last vehicle in the lineup is a 1971 Porsche 911T Targa, a driving project car that was sold at auction for $36,500. The seller acquired it in 2022 and replaced its new battery, fuel lines, and rear shocks before putting it up for auction.
The factory finish on the body was olive green, but it was repainted with copper gold under previous ownership. Equipment on this classic model includes a brushed stainless steel Targa bar, a driver’s mirror, a fender-mounted antenna, quad exhaust outlets, “sugar scoop” headlight housings, red taillight assemblies, and a removable Targa top.
It has 15” ventilated wheels with chrome hubcaps and Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. The interior cabin features tan vinyl seats, front headrests, wing windows, a wood-shift knob, and rear-opening quarter windows. The vehicle also has a JVC AM/FM cassette stereo.
The four-spoke steering wheel accompanies VDO instrumentation, which consists of a 150-mph speedometer, combination gauges, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and an analog clock. The engine is a 2.2-liter flat-six with replacement carburetors and a rain hat air filter. And power is sent through a five-speed manual transaxle to the rear wheels.
This model has noticeable wear and tear, but overall it is still a special little piece of history and would make any owner proud.
