As collectors of classic automobiles, your clients want to protect what is likely a substantial investment. We’re here to help. Applying for Classic Auto’s specialty insurance coverage is easy. “Agents can get started by using our Instant Quote online or right on the home page of our newly-designed website,” President Drew Yagodnik says. “After the application process is complete, we can turn these policies around in as little as a business day.”
Vehicle Eligibility Rules
You’ll want to discuss a few things with your client before you start the Instant Quote and application process for them. Vehicles must meet certain eligibility rules for Classic Auto’s program: 1) Must be stored in an enclosed and locked garage; 2) Used primarily for car club activities, parades and/or pleasure drives; 3) Cannot be a daily use vehicle, known as a daily driver; 4) Cannot be held for sale or consignment; 5) Cannot have any not repaired or existing damage. Once you know the vehicle meets these requirements, please proceed!
Start With The Application
To start a quote online, you will complete a short questionnaire about your client (i.e., the applicant) and their vehicle. Click the “Get Quote” button and you’ll have a quote instantly to share with your client. To complete the process, you will flesh out your client’s application with a few more details such as the VIN number of each vehicle, applicant-driver’s license number, the current odometer reading for each car and a copy of their primary insurance policy.
One Good Photo Essential
You will also need to provide at least one good color photo of each car. “Typically that is enough for us, but if your client has a restomod or street rod, we might ask for additional photos,” Drew says. “If the vehicle has a custom interior or motor, that we’d like to see.” After your client signs the application, Classic Auto will verify their primary auto insurance.
Customize Your Client’s Coverage
Classic Auto Insurance policies are customized for your client’s best protection. Our policies include bodily injury, collision, comprehensive and uninsured motorists. The policy may include medical payments and personal injury protection depending on the applicant’s state.
Mileage plans – 1,000, 3,000, 6,000 or unlimited plans
One liability charge – Many auto insurance companies charge liability for every vehicle on the policy; we charge one flat rate regardless of the number of vehicles on the policy, saving money.
Agreed value loss settlement – The vehicle is insured for what your client believes it is worth. Once we agree on a value, that’s what your client gets in the event of a total loss. There’s no depreciation or questions.
Spare parts – Lost or stolen spare parts are covered up to $2,000. This limit can be increased at any time.
Towing – Up to $75 per occurrence.
Trip interruption – Up to $150 per day is reimbursed for transportation, lodging and expenses if the vehicle becomes disabled more than 50 miles from home for at least 24 hours.
Pet coverage – Up to $750 in medical expenses is paid for a pet injured while in the vehicle.
Deductible options – $0 to $10,000
New purchase coverage – Any new addition to a collection, valued up to $50,000, is covered for 30 days to allow time to formally add the car to the policy. Collectors can increase this limit.
More Options For Policy Customization
In addition to Classic Auto’s basic coverage packages, your client can choose to add additional options.
Nationwide roadside assistance –
- Guaranteed flatbed towing, $200 per occurrence
- Flat tire assistance
- Lockout assistance
- Fuel delivery
- 1-800 emergency number
Full safety glass – No deductible applies if a windshield requires replacement and there is no other vehicle damage.
Foreign transport – Extend coverage for vehicles when driven overseas and while in transit.
Track Day Insurance – For collectors who enjoy track driving, private driving clubs and high performance driving education (HPDE).
You can also discuss discounts with your client:
