Indianapolis is the place to be for car enthusiasts with several events leading up to the annual Indy 500 race set for May 27. From Thursday, May 10 through Sunday, May 13 (Mother’s Day weekend), car lovers of all ages will enjoy the 2nd Annual Celebration of Automobiles. Of note to classic car fans is a Vintage and Historic Car Show on Saturday, May 12.
This year’s Vintage and Historic Car Show will take place in the Pagoda Plaza area. Two hundred vehicles from 1920-1970 will be on display as they compete in two classes. One class will represent manufacturers of Indy 500 competitors and the other will include all other manufacturers during this time period. The panel of judges will include classic car experts as well as past Indy 500 winners and other auto racing legends. Awards will be presented at a gala dinner event that evening, and all winning cars will give a “special lap of honor” around the speedway on Sunday.
