Take Me Back in Time … 30 Years Ago
As incredible as it may seem, 30 years have passed since the first “Back to the Future” movie hit the big screen. For some, what still blows us away is the fabulous “time machine” – the DeLorean DMC-12. Admit it, you wish you could have a DeLorean like that one – complete with a flux capacitor and a Mr. Fusion fuel “thingie”. Well, now you can … get a look-see, anyway.

Come See Doc Brown’s Time Machine
Recently on a visit to Illinois’s Volo Auto Museum, we get an up-close look at one of the DeLoreans used in the “Back to the Future” movies. Volo’s own Brian Grams gives us the lowdown on this fan favorite. Despite what you may think, it is a fully drivable car with many of the movie props still functioning. Brian even points out Marty McFly’s hover board that’s on display with it. Take a look yourself:

Here’s a little trivia quiz for you. What MLB team wins the World Series in “Back to the Future Part II?” The Chicago Cubs defeat the Florida Marlins – pure fiction, you say?! Well the folks at Volo Auto Museum are willing to back the Cubbies all the way. If the Cubs win the World Series in 2015, one lucky winner will drive away with their DeLorean time machine. Let the Celebrations Commence
Premiering in the summer of 1985, “Back to the Future” breaks box office records and makes Michael J. Fox a household name. Two sequels follow and still the world has not lost its fascination with Marty McFly, Dr. Emmett Brown or the time machine itself. This year, “Back to the Future” 30th anniversary celebrations commence worldwide; some screenings will include a live orchestra performing Alan Silvestri’s Academy Award-nominated soundtrack. The first performance is set for this month in Lucerne, Switzerland.

Back in 1985 it is doubtful that anyone thought we’d still be talking about a little Spielberg/ Zemeckis movie called “Back to the Future” or that we’d even remember the car featured in it. As Marty McFly discovers, even the smallest thing can change the future, like how a sports car from a legendary manufacturer goes on to become a Hollywood icon. As the saying goes, there are no small parts in the movies.
