Rick:
All right. We’re about done. John, you gotta tell me, I know pardon in the pun, but it looks like you got everything wrapped up.
John:
Yeah. yeah, yeah. You know these cars are a labor of love. The Mustang GT 500 is one of the more difficult installs in as far as it goes because of the hard body lines and tight lines that it does have.
Rick
Well, you said you had 18 pieces or roughly.
John:
Roughly 16 or 18 pieces on the front bumper, just because of the way that the bumper is cut. The nice thing is that all of the pieces seemed well together. So you see any sight lines and that really has to do with the designers at XPEL that do this and they’re very professional. They get the job done right. We depend upon them to do that.
Rick:
Okay. Okay. So what’s left, you’ve got everything installed. The last couple things that you do before the customer takes it.
John:
So what we’re doing now is polish it up and we’ll give it a wipe down. Then we will set the car outside in the sun, let it cure in the sun for a couple of hours. Then bring it back in and reevaluate any bubble issues or edges. If we find any imperfections in the material, we will go ahead and just replace that piece immediately. It’s, you know, no harm, no foul because we’ve identified it before it goes outta the shop.
Rick
Sounds good. Now, what’s the usual reaction from the customer when they, when they get this,
John:
It can range from, did you do anything to my car because you can’t see the product on the car to wow, I couldn’t believe that you can make it look better than a brand new car. We just did a Tesla a while back, a Model S where we did the matte finish film on it. The customer thought he was driving away in the batmobile. So it turned out pretty wild. We were really thrilled with the install and the customer was excited.
Rick:
Yeah. So the quality is there. I want you to tell me a little bit about the quality of what you see out in the industry. There are some people that might think that the film is going to deter from the overall quality of the car and maybe the opposite is true.
John:
Well, yeah, the opposite can be true. So if you have a car that’s has a little bit of an aging issue. We can do a paint correction on it, up to a point, and then the film can actually enhance the vehicle’s look. If you’re gonna go ahead and wrap the whole vehicle, right. Obviously, if you’re only gonna do partial or a full hood and front end, then we run into some differences in the quality
Rick:
Where it looks better than the original.
John:
Exactly. Exactly. So we try to steer our customers to what’s gonna fit their budget and their expectations. So, and we’ll meet that as much as we possibly can.
Rick:
You’ve got a big client list and a lot of success which you want you staying busy for a while.
John:
Yeah. Yeah. We’ve been doing this for 16 years now. Been through a lot of the tough times, but we’re now at a comfortable place. We’re small, we’re not a big operation. We’re family-owned. So I’ve got people that I can blindly trust and not have to worry about a thing. There’s a lot of comfort in that. We like to get cars done and I like to make money, but it’s not gonna be at the cost of the quality.
Rick:
There you go. Yeah. There you go. Well, this turned out awesome. And it’s not even done yet.
John:
No, we’re not even. We still have another day or two on it just to fit and finish and polish and everything else before we’re ready to let it go.
Rick:
And to me, it looks like a fresh coat of clear coat on there. That’s what this looks like. It does. And it can, yeah, it really does enhance it.
John:
It’ll actually brighten the coating or, you know, the paint a little bit because it is so clear. Yeah. And that is really the key there’s, you know, the clarity, durability, and warranty. Those are the three things that, you know, I’m looking for products to add to my product line. Right. Those are the things that we want to first things that we ask.
Rick:
