We are checking out all of the Great Eight award winners. Waiting on the Ridler later on tomorrow. But we have another example of a truly beautiful custom car in this 1963 Impala wagon that’s behind me. You’ll need to see a picture of the before, what it started with, but right now the most amazing thing that I can see about this car is the fact that there are no bolt on parts other than the two doors and the hood. Everything else is molded together. Roof, cowl, fenders, the front end, everything is one piece and molded.
How they get it apart or put it back together, I have no idea. But the craftsmanship is amazing. And then if you look at the undercarriage as well, everything is fit and finished. You can tell that this thing is built to show, and the amount of man hours in this has got to be way into the thousands. So another example, and another one fighting for that award, for the Ridler award. Will it win in 2020?
It’s Official – 2020 Autorama Ridler Winner
The 2020 Ridler Award Winner is Named “Impressive”, this 1963 Chevy station custom wagon is owned, built and entered by Brad, Brady, and Cory Ranweiler of Show Cars Automotive Inc. in New Ulm, Minnesota.
When the Ranweilers brought Impressive into the Autorama show room floor on Friday, it was immediately selected to the Great 8, the eight top customs which would then be in contention for the Ridler Award. The 1963 Chevrolet wagon was the one to beat according to the custom car builders at the 2020 Autorama. The incredible number of custom modifications on this car were over the top. The Ranweilers showed their expertise for custom engineering. After nine years into the build, the Ranweilers completed the car in their own shop, Show Cars Automotive in New Ulm, Minnesota. There they specialize in 1958 to 1964 Chevrolets.
