The COPO cars, also known as the Central Office Production Order cars, were popular, albeit extremely rare, during the prime muscle car years of the 60’s and 70’s. These cars were issued to specific dealers to authorize special features, components, and additions to the factory models of these cars.
Many are most familiar with the COPO Camaros, but the Corvettes have a few remaining COPO models as well, including this one of a kind Bloomington Gold Survivor that is about to go up for auction at Mecum Chicago.
This Silver Pearl Exterior/Red Interior ‘67 C2 was one of only five of the color combination ever made, all sold through the COPO program. Of those five, only two of them were given small block power, and this one specifically given the 327/300 HP unit with the Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission and the 3.36 Positraction rear end.
The car is still in original condition, and has not had any restoration work performed on it. It contains the original Silver Pearl paint and the Red vinyl interior, as well as the original glass, the soft top, the engine, transmission, and rear end. It has been driven, and the odometer reads 36,850 currently.
