Okay, this is Rick Drewry. I’m here with Classic Auto Insurance at Detroit Autorama 2020, and what we want to do is cover the great eight that just got revealed this morning. And we’re going to start with the car that’s in the background, a beautiful 1956 Oldsmobile 98. There’s not a whole lot left that’s Oldsmobile 98, but the craftsmanship and the workmanship is pretty much off the charts, and it seems to be pretty much a crowd favorite here at the show. If you look around the car, I’m not sure of the color, but it is a beautiful midnight blue.
For some reason it has a Hemi under the hood as well. But if you look at the car, we’ve got this padded, hardtop as well as all the custom designs that went in, shaped bumpers pulled in, we have a continental kit built into the trunk. The metalwork is pretty obvious, so take a look around and let me know what you think.
From California To Detroit To Show This 1956 Oldsmobile 98 Convertible
Owner, Jeff Hess, brought this custom 1956 Olds 98 from California to show it off at 2020 Autorama. Fashioned after the 1950s, it took eight years to build down to every last bolt. This build sets the bar for 1950s-style customs.
Advanced Plating of Nashville, Tennessee did all of the plating work on this custom car including triple-plated chrome. Horsepower comes a fuel-injected first-generation Chrysler Hemi. Every component of the 1956 Oldsmoblie has been painted in HOK Way Past Midnite Blue including, amazingly, the boxed frame with air-ride suspension. The fully custom one-off interior was fabricated and upholstered by Bill’s Auto Upholstery.
