This is Rick Drewry. I’m here with Classic Auto Insurance at Detroit Autorama, 2020. We’re revealing the great eight to you that have won the top eight custom cars in the United States at this point. And then, we’re waiting tomorrow to see who ends up being the Riddler Award out of these great eight.
We’ve got a great example behind me. It’s actually one of my favorites, is this Model A. And the root bear brown named Driftwood, but with the woodworking that went into place, the root beer brown paint, and then to top it all off, you’ve got the flathead that’s customized. And I mean, it just glares at you. So, it’s pretty cool.
The flathead engine, this is an old-school build, but with a modern flair to it and the craftsmanship and the workmanship and the paint is flawless. It is easily going to be a contender for the Riddler this year.
Hit The Beach With This 1929 Ford Model A Called Driftwood
This 1929 Ford Model A is called Driftwood because of the stunning woody body. Owners, Greg and Gail Wilson’s 1929 Ford Model A worked with the Hercules Motor Car Company come up with one of the most unique custom cars of the Great 8.
The woodwork is a beautiful combination of maple and walnut. The pickup has a full-wood bed, down to the custom side rails and removable surfboard mount. And, yes, the board was made custom for the build. Amazingly, the whole truck is made out of wood including most of the intricately designed interior. The beautiful mahogany wood bed treatment is incredible.
