Episode 4 – Easy day, today. Rick will be honing the cylinder walls and lifter bores to get them all cleaned up. Scoring marks were minimal. After cleaning up the cylinder walls and lifter bores, he oils them down with WD-40. So far, everything is moving along smoothly. This 1953 Chevy Bel Air restoration project is off to a great start!

Rick Drewry: All right. Day three. July 13th. Easy day! Basically, I ended up honing the cylinder walls, and honing the lifter bores as well, and just cleaned them up.
There was a tiny bit of hash marks … Not hash marks, scoring marks, and it was minimal. And after I honed it really quickly, they basically went away. So, they got cleaned up really good and we’re in good shape.
I went through and honed all the cylinders and the lifter bores, and cleaned them all up. Oiled those down really heavy with WD-40 and then wiped them down. They’ll be good to go, and now I move on to the can bearings. That’ll be next!
