The Emery Ward Ford collection is not one to be scoffed at. In fact, the collection that Mr. Ward compiled, working hard to find every model of Ford built in the 1936 model year, fell short of the goal by only one car.
Mr. Ward passed away in February of 2007, and his widow followed him in October of 2012. The family of the Ward couple have now decided to auction off a large portion of this collection, amounting to 20 1936 Fords, as well as a few others from the collection.
The Erie County Fairgrounds will be home to the auction on May 16th-17th, and Baker Bonningson Realty & Auctioneers, Inc. will host the auction.
This collection took shape as a family affair. Emery Ward involved his wife and sons in the acquisition and restoration of all his cars, and continued to take them to shows, even into his elderly years. His sons have many stories to tell about the cars, some of which can be read in the original article from the Sandusky Register.
