Recently, four more first-rate classic cars sold on Bringatrailer.com: a 1964 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe, a 1957 Ford Thunderbird, a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 327/250, and a 1960 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II.
Here are our highlights from these classic vehicle auctions.
1964 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe
A creamy beige coupe with a black roof, this 1964 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia is an old-meets-new example of a luxury Volkswagen from the mid-60s. The seller acquired it in 2022 and installed a Tri-Mil exhaust system, EMPI shifter, muffler, new ignition components, an aftermarket sound system, and aftermarket LED lights.
It has dual-side mirrors, pop-out rear quarter windows, bright trim, and a vent decklid. The owner says the coupe hesitates a little under acceleration but has a dual-port 1.6L flat-four with a four-speed manual transaxle. Underneath are four-wheel disc brakes and Bilstein front dampers for 15″ Klassic Rader wheels mounted with Continental ContiTouring tires in front and Goodyear Eagle LS tires in the rear.
Inside, you’ll find a 90-mph speedometer, an analog clock, a retro-style radio, and a five-digit odometer showing about 89,000 miles, although the total mileage is unknown. It has front bucket seats and a rear bench with black vinyl trim throughout. It’s also been updated with electric window switches, a window washer, a power antenna, and a modern backup camera with reverse lights. It sold for $12,000 at auction.
1957 Ford Thunderbird
This 1957 Ford Thunderbird originally left the factory in Raven Black and was repainted red in 2018. The car’s late owner acquired it in 2016 and reupholstered the interior red to match its new paint job. It comes with a white soft top, which has a small tear, and a white removable hardtop with porthole windows.
The Thunderbird gets its power from a 312 ci V8 paired with a three-speed Fordomatic automatic transmission and stops with power-assisted drum brakes at each corner. It has steel 14″ wheels with turbine covers mounted with 205/75 Optimo H724 tires.
Other features include a power-adjustable bench, an analog clock, a heater, an AM radio, chrome bumpers, parking lights, a Thunderbird hood emblem, chrome front and rear bumpers, fender vents, iconic slanted tail fins, and color-matched dashboard, carpets, and door panels.
The odometer shows about 84,000 miles. It was auctioned on behalf of its late owner with a Montana title and comes with service records and an uninstalled air conditioning system. This classic Thunderbird sold for $31,250 at auction.
1963 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 327/250
This 1963 Chevrolet Corvette convertible’s fiberglass body was originally painted Silver Blue and was reportedly repainted in 1992. It has a white convertible soft top with a small rip, removable hardtop, flip headlights, quad tail lamps, chrome bumperettes, fender vents, and dual exhaust tips.
Under the hood, you’ll find a 327ci V8 factory-equipped with a single four-barrel carburetor producing 250 horsepower and a two-speed automatic transmission. This was the first Corvette to offer fully independent suspension. It has 15″ silver-finish steel wheels, including three-eared knock-off spinner-style hubcaps with 205/75 Coker Classic tires.
Inside it has bucket seats, blue upholstery with dark blue vinyl, color-coordinated door panels and carpets, power windows, push-button radio, lap belts, a heater, and an analog clock. You’ll see a 160-mph speedometer, 5,300-rpm tachometer, and an odometer with about 81,000 miles, including 1,400 by the current owner.
Previous to this auction, it was last sold in 2009, and the transmission was rebuilt in 2020. It comes with the manufacturer’s literature, owner’s service records, and a clean Kentucky title. This Corvette convertible sold for $55,000 at auction.
1960 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II
Owned by the same person for 38 years, this 1960 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II is a rolling masterpiece. Its refinished body is white with chrome brightwork on bumpers, side moldings, window surrounds, and grille. It has dual side mirrors, bumper overriders, aftermarket rear reflectors, an aftermarket antenna, and the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament.
It’s a left-hand drive vehicle powered by a 6.2-liter V8 with a Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic transmission. It comes with 15″ steel wheels with full covers, black accents, and BF Goodrich whitewall tires. Its Silver Cloud suspension has a coil-spring independent front setup with semi-elliptical back springs and servo-assisted braking drums.
The interior has burl wood trim, red vinyl upholstery, red carpet, Smiths instrumentation, power windows, rear tray tables, AM radio, analog clock, and an aftermarket air-conditioning system. The dash includes a 120-mph speedometer and an odometer showing about 93,000 miles, with 34,000 from the current owner.
The current owner acquired this Rolls-Royce in New Jersey 38 years ago. It comes with an owner’s manual and a clean New Jersey title in the owner’s business name. This incredible Rolls Royce sold for $31,250 at auction.
