Built in the late 1940s by Al Gray of Porterville, California, this vintage racing car is a true relic of racing history. Lovingly refurbished over the years by Gray’s son Pat and later by another dedicated owner, this car has a storied past, having been used in dirt-track events throughout California in the 1950s and then making a name for itself as “Pinky” in vintage racing during the 1990s. Under its gray-finished Ford Model T-style bodywork and custom tube-frame chassis lies a 270ci GMC inline-six engine paired with triple Stromberg carburetors, a direct-drive transmission, and a Halibrand quick-change rear end. The distinctive features include a modified 1933 Pontiac grille, side exhaust pipes, a roll hoop, a single bucket seat, and red-finished steel wheels. This racing legend comes complete with historical photos that capture its glory days on California tracks like Tulare, Bakersfield, Fresno, and Gardena.
