Five remarkable classic vehicles recently sold at Bring a Trailer auctions, and these cars and trucks exemplify the unforgettable craftsmanship of quality classic vehicles. These vehicles were the 1959 Pontiac Bonneville Sedan, 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback K-Code, 1977 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera, 1963 Dodge D100 Pickup, and 1977 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. Here’s a brief tour of these stunning vehicles.
1959 Pontiac Bonneville Sedan
The four-door hardtop 1959 Bonneville Sedan that recently sold was refurbished in 2009 and underwent important revisions, including a radiator overhaul as well as a new Optima Red Top battery and upgraded tires. It was also equipped with quad headlamps, sloping chrome trim along its sides, and twin-fin rear quarter panels.
The car was repainted with a stylish Royal Amethyst color, which looks especially stunning over the car’s red and white multi-tone vinyl upholstery, but the unit originally came in Shoreline Gold with a Cameo Ivory roof.
The sedan’s model year is especially notable because 1959 was the first time that Pontiac used the Wide-Track chassis.
This classic Pontiac sold for $38,000 and features a 389 cubic-inch V8 engine that was overhauled during its refurbishment process, and its powertrain features a four-barrel carburetor and Hydramatic four-speed automatic transmission. It also features 15” chrome wire wheels with official Pontiac Motor Division center caps that are mounted with recently-installed Coker Classic whitewall radial tires.
The vehicle’s cabin features a two-spoke steering wheel with a chrome horn ring. Some other noteworthy details in its interior include its 120-mph speedometer, generator status gauge, fuel level gauge, warning light, Sunpro coolant temperature gauge, five-digit odometer, and an analog clock.
This impressive unit also comes equipped with power-assisted steering and four-wheel drum brakes, and it even participated in the 2017 Concours d’Elegance of Texas.
1965 Ford Mustang Fastback K-Code 4-Speed
The next vehicle on our tour comes from the 1960s. This handsome classic Mustang is refinished in Twilight Turquoise and features styled-steel wheels wrapped in 14” US Royal dual-redline tires. It also comes with chrome-finished bumpers, vent windows, rear quarter louvers, and dual-side mirrors.
Its impressive powertrain includes a K-code 289 cubic-inch HiPo V8 with a four-barrel carburetor. Its power is sent through a four-speed manual transmission to its rear, which is equipped with a 3.50:1 rear axle ratio. The car’s engine is rated at 271 horsepower and 312 foot pounds of torque.
The car’s interior features front bucket seats and a fold-down rear bench that boast stylish white vinyl upholstery, and its white vinyl is accompanied by a complementing trim and black carpeting. Its interior equipment includes a Ford push-button AM radio, two-speed windshield wipers, a three-spoke steering wheel, and front lap belts. Additionally, the car’s Rally-Pac instrument cluster is mounted on its steering column and features a 120-mph speedometer, fuel and temperature gauges, 8000-rpm tachometer, analog clock, and a five-digit odometer.
This stunning Mustang, which sold at auction for $78,000, has undergone maintenance and some revisions through the years, including the installation of a DeWitts aluminum radiator and an Edelbrock water pump.
1977 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera
The next car in this impressive series is the 1977 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera, which is one of only 727 US units produced in its model year. This rare find sold for $207,210. It boasts a rebuilt turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six linked engine, and its power is sent through a rebuilt four-speed manual transaxle with a WaveTrac limited-slip differential.
The car has also been recently equipped with a RarlyL8 Motorsports muffler. Other upgrades include a KW Variant 3 suspension kit, 917-style brake calipers, bronze-powder-coated Group 4 wheels, and a K27 turbocharger.
The car also boasts front and rear fog lamps, headlight washers, dual side mirrors, quarter panel stone guards, rear bumperettes, a “whale tail” rear spoiler, and a front spoiler.
The car’s exterior isn’t the only thing to write home about — its impressive updated cabin features front sport seats with red leather and plaid inserts, and it comes with matching red details, such as its dashboard, carpeting, folding rear seats, and door panels. The interior also features a refurbished Bluetooth Blaupunkt Bamberg stereo, Infinity speakers, power windows, black Coco Mats, air conditioning, and a custom JWest Engineering shifter.
Its instrument panel features a 150-mph speedometer, 6,700-rpm redline tachometer, analog clock, and gauges for its fuel level, oil level, oil temperature, and oil pressure. Finally, it comes with an impressive three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel.
1963 Dodge D100 Pickup 4-Speed
The Chrysler Corporation initially released the Dodge D pickup truck series in 1960, and three years later, they manufactured this fine beauty. Since the vehicle’s production, the truck has remained in the same family. The current seller’s uncle originally purchased the vehicle new at Van Zee Motor Sales in New Holland, South Dakota and it sold at auction for $11,000.
The truck has undergone styling repairs and updates since its initial purchase. In 2015, the vehicle was stripped to its bare metal and went through rust repair. It was then repainted in a stunning blue.
An additional update included the installation of a Saddleman seat cover that protects its bench seat. The interior also features body-color metal surfaces and black floor coverings, and the truck’s cabin also displays a two-spoke steering wheel along with a five-digit mechanical odometer and other gauges.
The vehicle’s sale also came with some removed parts, including vents, its heater core, and its heater box.
The truck’s powertrain features a rebuilt 225-cubic slant-six engine along with a four-speed manual transmission that energizes its rear wheels. Interestingly, the engine underwent a yellow paint job. Other features on this eye-catching truck include its white bumpers, chrome door handles, swept side bed, and white-finished 15” steel wheels that are mounted on Uniroyal Tiger Paw Plus front tires and rear farm-style tires. Finally, the truck comes with four-wheel drum brakes.
1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40
Finally, we have this classic Toyota Land Cruiser that was obtained by the seller back in 2007. It’s powered by a 246.3 cubic-inch 2F inline-six linked engine with a dual-range transfer case and four-speed manual transmission. The vehicle’s powertrain also features a single carburetor and an electric engine-block heater.
The truck also includes Rancho shocks, but the vehicle’s suspension has suffered some corrosion, unfortunately.
This stunning vehicle brought in $35,000 at auction and sports a green finish along with a white removable hardtop roof. It also boasts rear ambulance-style doors, a rear-mounted spare wheel and tire, and side mirrors. Additionally, it sports 15” steel wheels mounted with recently installed 31×10.5 Wild Country Radial XTX Sport tires and polished hubcaps. The truck also features a replaced battery and brake master cylinder, and it also comes with manually locking front hubs.
The vehicle’s interior displays gray-upholstered front bucket seats and rear jump seats and replaced carpets. Some of its other details include manual wind-up windows, a dash pad, a cassette stereo, and air conditioning. The front of the cabin comes with a three-spoke steering wheel that frames its 100-mph speedometer and various gauges, such as its oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and amperage. The truck also displays a five-digit odometer reading 63,000 miles, but its total mileage is not known by the seller.
