The eagerly anticipated 2013 Shelby GT500 does not disappoint. With big stats such as 662 horsepower and 631 lb-ft of torque, the GT500 has 5.8 liter supercharged V-8 six-speed manual transmission that can do 0-60 mph in a mere 3.5 seconds! It is also stated to produce a top speed of more than 200 mph.
To adjust for the new speed and muscle, the grill on the GT500 was replaced with two large intakes as well as gills mounted near the cowl to work to extract heat from the engine bay. Standard HID halo headlights with LED bars, as well as triple taillights round out the exterior’s new, graceful design.
The 2013 Shelby GT500 starts at $54,995. For those looking for something even more unique, the Henry Ford Health System will auction a one-of-a-kind GT500 at their “Get Your Heart Racing” fundraiser at the Dearborn test track in September. Ford designer Melvin Betancourt designed the car as a thank-you to the Henry Ford Hospital after being a patient. Last year’s Boss 302 auction raised $300,000.
